QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE CLASS

Hello Friends,
From Today we are going to start classes of Quantitative Aptitude. So lets start with the first topic Average.
Formula For Average = Sum of N values
                                                      N
                                       = A1+A2+A3+A4+.........+AN
                                                                N

The above formula is the only formula to calculate average of N values. This formula is to solve any question on Average. But this is basic method of calculation it takes time and as we know we have less time to solve the problems in exam. So let's discuss the tricks to solve the questions on Average.

First Trick - We can call this odd-even trick. In this we first check the terms are in series or not then find the number of terms. If the number of terms are odd then to calculate average of odd number of terms find the middle term this is the answer.

Example - Find the Average of 5,6,7,8,9.

So the given terms are 5 in no. means no. of terms are odd. Let's find the middle term, Here 7 is the middle term so it the Average of given nos.

If the terms are even in nos. then there will be 2 terms in the middle. So to calculate the average find sum of those terms and dive the result with 2.

Example - Find the Average of 2,3,4,5,6,7.

So the given terms are 6 in no. means no. of terms are even. Let's find the middle terms, here the middle terms are 4 and 5. Now the Average will be,

                                                                       4+5 = 4.5 (Answer)
                                                                         2

Second Trick - AP Trick. In this we check the terms are in AP. Any terms are said to be in AP if the difference between the terms is equal. If the terms are in AP then we can calculate the Average by following these steps.
1st Step - Find the sum of first and last term.
2nd Step - Divide the sum by 2.
Answer will be the Average of the given terms.

So Average = First term + Last Term
                                       2

Example - Find the Average of 18,22,26,30.

First check the given terms are in AP or not. The difference between the given terms is equal which is 4. So the given terms are in AP. Now calculate the Average applying above formula,

                                                           18+30 = 24 (Answer)
                                                               2

So this is it for today. Tomorrow we will discuss some questions on Average which are asked in competitive exams. So stay connected.
